Hello, Washington, DC! This abstract city map is centered on the Mall, Capitol Hill, and the White House with the Potomac River wending through the painting. I made these because I love maps. Since childhood, I’ve been enamored with them. I wanted a to create a piece of art that felt abstract but was connected to a place, a piece of art that could fit into any decor style (though these brightly colored ones do lean a bit more maximalist). Thus my journey into these maps began. Each city has its own web of roads and rivers. Each a beautiful representation of the paths we take in our comings and goings.

Every intersection and bit of land and water on this map is painted by hand using watercolor paint on cold press watercolor paper. Then, it is scanned using a high resolution scanner and digitally formatted for printing.
